Bartók & Jazz

The Hungarian Institute in Bucharest (The Balassi Institute) organized a unique concert entitled Bartók & Jazz on 11th October 2016 – as part of the Bartók Commemorative Year. The concert took place at the George Enescu Hall from the National University of Music in Bucharest, and was graced by the participation of two Hungarian pianists,  Fejes Krisztina and jazzman Káel Norbert, and, of course, Teodora Enache.

The concert unfolded as a dialogue between two pianos and a voice, inspired from Béla Bartók’s compositions: Six Romanian Dances, Three folk songs from Ciuc County, Hungarian Folk Songs and Bulgarian Dances.

The lobby of the concert hall hosted an exhibition of the studies and compositions by the great composer who was commemorated, and studies written over the course of a century by researchers and musicians passionate about Bartók. Most of the exhibits belong to the collection of the famous musicologist from Cluj – László Ferenc.
