Teodora Enache & Benny Rietveld Quintet – ‘Transfiguration’ album release tour

Teodora Enache, one of the prominent singers of the Romanian jazz music, comes back, this summer, to Romania’s stages, alongside Benny Rietveld – 9-time Grammy Award winner –, with a special tour.
The shows announce the release of Teodora’s newest studio album – Transfiguration, produced by Benny Rietveld (Carlos Santana’s bassist and musical director).
The Transfiguration Tour, produced by Asociatia Fapte, with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America in Bucharest, will take place in:

  • Bucharest @ Tribute Club – June 22nd
  • Sibiu @ Philharmonic’s Thalia Hall – June 24th (within the Romanian-
    American Musical Days)
  • Cluj Napoca @ Museum of Art  – June 27th (‘Jazz In The Park’ festival’s grand opening concert)

Transfiguration represents the fruit of an exceptional jazz project, launched in Romania, in September 2014, by Teodora and Benny Rietveld. The album was recorded in February 2015, at Audio Mix House in Las Vegas (USA), with the contribution of Santana’s rhythm section – Benny Rietveld (bass) and Pepe Jimenez (drums) –, the musicians from Benny Rietveld Quintet – Manu Koch (keyboards), Allen Won (saxophone), Ren Martin-Doike (viola) and Ray Yslas (percussion) – and Fred Schreuders (guitar) and it was revised in the famous Abbey Road Studio in London (UK), in July 2015.
The concept of the album carries Teodora’s vision. The finished musical product benefits from Benny Rietveld’s vast experience, as an instrumentalist, but also as producer, arranger and mixing engineer and includes various works – jazz standards, traditional Romanian and Hebrew music and Teodora’s original creations.

Teodora Enache is rated as one of Romania’s first league jazz singers, with a career that spans over 20 years. She performed with jazz musicians like Curtis Fuller, Les Paul, Stanley Jordan, Ricardo Scale, Darius Brubeck or Burton Greene and has been awarded with the Excellence Prize for the most important international contribution of a Romanian jazz musician, by the Romanian Broadcasting Company (Societatea Română de Radiodifuziune).
2013 (the year that she ended with a spectacular tour in Germany and Romania with Stanley Jordan) brought her the joint with Benny Rietveld, which was to lay the foundation of their present collaboration.
Benny Rietveld is one of the most prolific modern bass players in the international music culture. He brings to the stage an impressive résumé, including his work with the jazz icon Miles Davis and stints with Sheila E and the Prince Organization. He performed and recorded with many other musicians, like John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Hayes, Wayne Shorter or Ray Obiedo, to name a  few. He is a 9-time Grammy Award winning bass player, film composer and producer, he currently is bass player and musical director for Carlos Santana.
